How is context.account.leverage calculated?

I am using a 130/30 algo. But the context.account.leverage is showing 1.6 instead of 1.3. That seems different to what I understand about leverage... Please advise! Thank you!

It looks like that is defined in Zipline as gross_exposure / net_liquidation_value

That can also be written as: (long value + abs(short_value)) / context.portfolio.portfolio_value

So if you are long 130 and short 30, that is calculated as (130+30)/(130-30) = 1.6
