@Quantopian will it be possible to have urllib2 and BeautifulSoup whitelisted?

Hi Nicola,

We're unlikely to whitelist those libraries due to our own security concerns (sorry!) but we definitely want to solve your underlying problem -- programmatic access to short interest data. Providing access to data like that is core to the purpose of the recently announced Quantopian Store.

I'll definitely reach out to Factset who furnishes this data to quants and websites.

Are there other sources of this kind of data you think we should pursue?

Thanks,
Josh

Any update on getting access to short interest data? I use it extensively in several of my stock ranking systems I am trying to convert to Quantopian.

There's no significant update yet, we're still talking to data vendors. Once we have new data integrated, we'll share in the community!

I would also be very interested in using this data. Thanks.

I have been talking to vendors for this data but it has been going slow. Definitely still something we want to do!

Short interest would be great one of my favorites to identify short opportunities in the market place

+1 for short interest!

Any update on this?

This would be significant. Surprised it is a difficult one to add, publicly available without cost.

To anyone who can help: how are you accessing short interest data outside of Quantopian? I am having a horrible time trying to find a source with daily historical information, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
