I have the same problem when trying to connect to my IB demo account

When try to authenticate an IB account, we recognize a number of errors and pass them back through to the browser. When the error is something we don't recognize, we don't have a good feedback mechanism. We pass back the generic error that you see, "Unknown Error." If you get that error consistently you should click "Contact Support" and tell us what you were doing and what step triggered the error.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
