Issue Displaying Backtest Results

Hi, I'm using FireFox ESR 10.0.9.

When I'm building the plain vanilla "aapl example", I cannot view the chart results on the right sections during build. Instead, I can only see"Initializing backtest..." & "Waiting for logs..." in the log section.
When I'm turning to "Full Backtesting", similar issue though the Backtest has been "complete".

Could anyone suggest the root cause (add-on? browser compatibility, etc) & fix?

Great many thanks! / Rock

Are you able to clone an algorithm?
I had a similar issue yesterday. I could not see any of the results posted by anybody

Hi Abhishek, Yes, I can clone a code. However, when I chose to build it or run full backtest, the result just didn't show up. All I can see is "Initializing backtest...".

How to fix that? Many thanks!

Hello Rock,

The backtesting graphs use websockets to drive the content. It sounds like the websocket connection is being blocked.

  • It could be a firewall, though we've tried to keep that from being an issue
  • It could be a browser plugin

Firefox has a tool called a "Web Console". Open that up. Then reproduce the problem. When it works, you see something like this:

[20:28:38.669] websocket opened, Mon Feb 18 2013 20:28:38 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)

I'm betting you see an error message. That might help us.

Hi, Dan, I followed your steps and get:

[10:40:55.670] WebSocket is not defined @

OK, that did help - it made me look more closely at your version number! I don't think Firefox 10 supports websockets - your ESR version of Firefox is based on Firefox 10.

I think if you use Chrome or Firefox 17 or IE 10 I think you'll be in good shape.

Got on-board myself to Chrome & issue resolved. Many thanks Dan!
