Thank you very much!

Please keep posting videos like these!

This is quite useful - thanks.

Really awesome stuff, when are you planning on releasing more?

Hi David,

I just added a 6th video on the history() function. They will be released as they are made! I'll make a comment each time I add one.

Hi Jamie, are there clonable algorithms for anything in this series? Also, I want to say that I love what Quantopian is doing, but figuring out how to get started with coding in it (all of the important functions, techniques, etc.), even for someone with quant finance and Python knowledge, seems like a pretty big hurdle. Any way of making that more smooth is deeply appreciated!

Hi Austin,

I just added links to a clonable backtest of each lesson (except the first, which is just a tour of the IDE). The purpose of these videos is to help with smoothing the learning curve!

Added Lesson 7 - Scheduling a Function

This is great! thanks

Added Lesson 8 - Using Fundamentals Data

Thank you!

The tutorials are extremely helpful, thank you big time!
I wish, I came across this thread earlier, maybe a link to the tutorial somewhere in "Help and API Docs" would be helpful for newcomers?

Hi Oleg,

Thanks for the feedback. That's the plan! We're working on creating a space for tutorial/help material to exist.

Added Lesson 9 - Managing Orders

Well done.

But I am waitin g for the written lesens.

Truely to say, your writen tutorial is too short.

Hi Thomas,

The written versions have not yet been published, they're still being worked on!

Hi Guys.

Can anyone tell me how do we factor Macro Data like Non Farm Payroll into the Algo?

Hi Mohamad,

While we don't have Non-Farm Payroll data right now, we have a number of different macroeconomic data available through Pipeline. You can find that information on Quantopian Data (https://www.quantopian.com/data?type=free)

When I try to build algorithms in daily mode (minute mode is fine) I don't always get print messages.
All I see is

This backtest didn't generate any logs.

What is going wrong?

Hi Girish T,

I have the same problem as yours. I have to click the "Build Algorithm" many times to get seeing the logs. I would like to say, the server is not robustic and not stable.

Hi Jamie,

Your work is awesome! I'm totally new to quant and this excites me a lot.

Really looking forward to more videos from you. Thank you.

Sang.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. We're going to have an engineer look into the intermittent logging problems. Thanks for the reporting the issue!

Great tutorial. Thanks for this!

Hey Guys, thanks for the tutorials. I came across your tutorials while watching sentdex's quantopian/python series on youtube. I followed the entire lecture series by Delaney before that. Would be great if you could streamline all the great educational material you are producing and showcase it in one place. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Luis

These are awesome, please keep them coming, thanks!

I have only just start on quant and these tutorials have made it so much easier! Cheers man!

awesome! thank you for sharing the tutorials.

When's the next one due? :)

The whole series is getting a bit of a facelift that will include 2-3 new lessons. I don't have a specific timeline, but my best guess is within the next few weeks.

Torials is great but tutorial it's only technical part of trading - how to make order, how to filter stocks etc.
But exist "pain of blank page", you just stare on blank ipython notebook and dont know what to code. Some simple guide with tasks will be very useful.

Hi Volodymyr,

The tutorials are designed to help you learn the technical parts of the Quantopian API. For lessons on the math/stats/strategy concepts, check out the Quantopian Lecture Series!

Hi Jamie,

thanks for reply.

I checked, they are really cool.
But i mean something like homework at academic courses.

Hi Volodymyr,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep that in mind!

I have just joined this group.

Thank you so much for your hard work.

This is pretty awesome. Thanks!
(Something to add, just in case an employee sees this: Is there a way to have a dark version of the Notes? If not, it would DEFINITELY help, lol. I usually write code in IDEs with dark themes. It's just wayyyy easier on the eyes, especially since I code mainly at night for some reason.)
